Racing Basics

Before you start any engine work, Stiffen your suspension!!!! This is way more effective then extra horsepower and much more cost effective. My first time on the track I took a racing school with basically stock Celica's. The only non factory parts were the suspension and even though my car could destroy one in a straight they could do circles around me on the track. Suspension is the first modification you should think about.

Notice in the picture above. Not going to make apex, Tires almost coming off the ground, the enging mods don't help at all without a stiff suspension. Suspension mods first engine second.

Coilovers

Invest in a good set of adjustable coilovers. They keep all your tires evenly on the ground providing you with more traction. Buy them online for better deals. You'll be looking at $900 and up. Remember though that they will be the one thing that helps the most.

Chassis Stiffening Kit

This is what will separate you from the competition. Yeah everyone has coilovers but this will follow through making your car feel like a go-cart. What this does is stiffen up the chassis so not only are your springs hard on the ground your car is not flexing as it goes through a turn either. I would say go for the D3 designs kit. Their sponsored racecar is a 2003 GTS Eclipse. So they know alot about the car and they have videos of their car in action. It is NA and it is passing passing race prepared WRX's and ferrari's like nothing. That is how important a good stiff suspension is.
